Rat Racers to scale new heights at The Tun

Whiteburn’s award winning office building on Holyrood Road. Launching themselves from the roof terrace of the newly fitted out 5th floor office space, under the watchful eyes of the Stuart Johnston Mountaineering team, a sheer drop down the pre-patinated copper west facade (v diff) will greet them, as they pass the windows of the European Parliament, Scottish Enterprise and BBC Scotland on their way back to earth.

John Shepherd, managing director of Whiteburn Projects, the developers and owners of The Tun, enthuses “The idea of having 300 Rat Racers swinging off The Tun was suggested to me whilst I was dangling at the end of a rope off the Pinnacle Ridge in the Cuillins in the capable hands of Stuart Johnston – how could I refuse?!” John went on to say, “Bringing adventure sports into an urban environment excites us at Whiteburn, as we ourselves root out awkward and challenging urban situations for our own development projects.”

As a pre-cursor to the rat race a number of enthusiastic property agents had the chance to test out the abseil this morning whilst viewing the vacant 5th floor office space. They were greeted with a dram of whisky as they completed their descent.

Whiteburn are committed to the regeneration of the Old Town and Holyrood, having successfully redeveloped both The Tun and the neighbouring Clock Tower buildings and are currently working up new development opportunities in the area.
