John Shepherd: BSc MSc MICE managing director

As group CEO John is responsible for instigating and realising development projects as well as overseeing the prudent management of Whiteburn's investment portfolio. Since the successful development of The Tun, John has been pursuing further innovative opportunities for Whiteburn, including the acquisition of the former South Bridge/Cowgate fire site for the SoCo redevelopment project.

John graduated in civil and structural engineering 25 years ago, then worked for a variety of organisations overseas and in London, formerly in the construction industry and latterly in property development. Relocating to Scotland in 1992 to re-establish and run the development arm of Whiteburn, he has managed a range of mixed use projects in Dundee and Edinburgh.

John sat on the national judging panel of the British Council for Offices Awards in 2007 and is also a director of a charitable housing company based in Dundee (www.northernhousing.co.uk).
