VOX DUNDEE SECURES PLANNING PERMISSION
We are delighted to confirm that we have secured planning permission for our innovative £15 million Vox Dundee development. We expect that demolitions and pre-construction work will start towards the end of this year and progress into early next year. With an ambitious construction programme, the projected first release of apartments for sale is expected in spring 2016.
Vox Dundee will see the rebirth of the former college as a vibrant mixed-use community on the edge of the city centre, providing 110 flats, workspace and a new café fronting Constitution Road in the city. As well as incredible views over Dundee, residents and workers will enjoy the use of a gym, lounge, cinema / auditorium and extensive landscaped gardens.
The existing college building was formally opened in May 1970 as the Dundee College of Commerce. It overlooks the city and the Tay estuary, and it remained in operation for over 40 years until its closure in 2011. The approved development design for the former college works intelligently with the existing structure, retaining and enhancing those parts of the building that have an intrinsic value.
Eve McCurrich, development manager for developer Whiteburn Projects says: “We are absolutely delighted to have secured this permission that will transform the former college building and bring such a diverse and interesting development to Dundee. Vox Dundee will offer a development that truly is a dynamic space to work, rest and play.
“Our philosophy at Whiteburn is to create urban spaces that challenge the status quo, and we’re really excited to be able to deliver this new way of city living right in the heart of Dundee. We’re looking forward to getting our pre-construction works underway and delivering this unique concept in the heart of Dundee.”
