Quick off the mark! 50% reserved new homes at Caerlee Mill

SUCCESSFUL START AT CAERLEE MILL WITH 50% NEW HOMES RESERVED OFF-PLAN

The redevelopment of the grounds of the former Caerlee Mill in Innerleithen has reached a key milestone, as developer Whiteburn has confirmed that 50% of its first phase of new build homes and flats have been sold off-plan.  Planning consent was granted in August 2018 for 44 new build houses and flats.

The vision for the site, in the heart of this thriving Borders village, is to deliver a range of two, three and four bedroom houses and cottage flats, which are designed to reflect the spirit of the former mill site, as well as the heritage of the village structure.

With prices currently ranging from £145,000 for a two bedroom cottage flat, from £185,000 for the three bedroom mid terrace Dow up to £295,000 for the four bedroom detached Brodie. The successful release of properties for sale signals that property-hunters are keen to secure their piece of this unique development in the Borders and make their contribution to the vibrancy of the established Innerleithen community.

Whilst designed to appeal to local purchasers, Caerlee Mill also aims to tap into the demand for Borders living as property owners aspire to a better life/work balance, escape busy city life and be able to enjoy the benefits of the beautiful countryside and outdoor pursuits on offer in the Tweed Valley.

Roger Bainbridge, Director of Design and Delivery at Whiteburn, said: “Our Caerlee Mill development demonstrates that new-build housing can be designed and delivered with consideration for the heritage and context of a site. We have created designs with an emphasis on natural daylight and flexible living space to provide comfortable, contemporary homes. Our layout focusses on pedestrians and streets rather than on cars and roads.

“We’re absolutely delighted to see how popular the development is, and selling 50% of our new homes off-plan gives us the opportunity to begin the delivery of our aim, which is to offer desirable homes where people want to live, in a place where they will be proud to contribute to its future.”

Whiteburn’s Managing Director, Eve McCurrich adds: “Our key objective is to bring this historic site in the heart of the village of Innerleithen back to life, and to create a great place for people to live.

“We are excited to have reached this part of the project where interested buyers can now reserve their property off-plan, and that we’ve seen  half of our properties for sale snapped up in just two weeks in our pre-launch phase for those people who had pre-registered their interest in the development.  This is a really exciting time for the development and we are excited confirm that we will launch a local sales information office at the development in June.”

In conjunction with the launch of the new-build housing for sale, Whiteburn continues to explore economically-viable solutions for the B- listed Brodie’s Mill building which dates back to 1778, and are in discussions with potential end users.
