Whiteburn are the principal contractor at Caerlee Mill, Innerleithen
Whiteburn Projects has been confirmed as the principal contractor at Caerlee Mill in Innerleithen, and work is already well underway on the £3.3million residential project for Edinburgh based property developers, Whiteburn Group.
The vision for the site, in the heart of this thriving Borders village, is to deliver a range of two, three and four bedroom houses and cottage flats, which are designed to reflect the spirit of the former mill site, as well as the heritage of the village structure.
The on-site local team is led by Project Manager Charlie Bain. Charlie is an experienced site manager with over 30 years industry experience. Work is already progressing well and installation of the first Timber Frames for the new build properties is expected to begin from June this year.
Roger Bainbridge, Director of Design & Delivery for Whiteburn Projects adds: “We are evolving from developer to builder at Whiteburn in order to deliver our homes for sale, which gives us control of the quality of our supply chain. This is a natural progression for our business, where we believe there is an opportunity within the Scottish residential market for Whiteburn as an SME house builder.
“Our Caerlee Mill project is the first opportunity for us to become the delivery vehicle for the Whiteburn group with Charlie Bain leading the local operation in Innerleithen.
“As a member of the Considerate Constructors Scheme, we are fully committed to delivering best practice under its Code of Conduct which includes caring about the appearance of the development at Caerlee Mill; respecting the local community; protecting and enhancing the immediate local environment of the development; attaining the highest levels of safety and valuing our workforce.”
In conjunction with the launch of the new-build housing for sale, Whiteburn continues to explore economically-viable solutions for the B- listed Brodie’s Mill building which dates back to 1778, and are in discussions with potential end users.
