Whiteburn Viewforth partners with Own New to help New Home buyers access 3% lower-rate mortgages

Whiteburn Viewforth partners with Own New to help New Home buyers access 3% lower-rate mortgages

Selected new homes at Whiteburn’s Viewforth development in Kirkcaldy are now available to buy using Own New, a scheme through which buyers can benefit from access to competitive, 3% lower-rate mortgages.  To help buyers understand more about this helpful scheme and how it might work for them, Whiteburn is hosting an event on Saturday 30th March 2024 from 10am – 4pm.

As well as an opportunity to visit the impressive four bedroom detached Oliphant show home, visitors to the Viewforth development will be able to chat directly with an Independent Mortgage Advisor from the Mortgage Advice Bureau to learn more about the Own New scheme and how this can accelerate their move to purchase a new home.

An Own New Rate Reducer mortgage allows first time buyers and existing home homeowners to purchase a new build home with a lower interest rate mortgage. It’s a regular mortgage, just with lower monthly payments for the initial period.

Own New works behind the scenes with house builders and lenders, to reduce the overall cost involved with mortgage loans on new build properties. The reduction is funded by house builders’ contributions towards the cost of the mortgage and enables the lender to offer borrowers more competitive interest rates during the initial period of their mortgage.

Toria Jones, Sales and Marketing Director at Whiteburn, said: “We’ve seen some potential buyers put their moving plans on hold because of rising interest rates. It is extremely pleasing to work in partnership with Own New and offer Rate Reducer to our customers – giving them access to highly competitive mortgage deals which make purchasing one of our new build homes so much easier.

“Our event with the Mortgage Advice Bureau will provide a great opportunity for interested buyers to find out more about the scheme and how it can work for them.  Get in touch if you’d like to book a space, or pop along to the sales centre at Viewforth in Kirkcaldy.”

Eliot Darcy, founder of Own New, said: “The principle behind Rate Reducer is quite straightforward. We wanted to find a way to introduce a regular mortgage but with lower monthly payments. Working with our national network of house builders, we’ve made buying a new home more accessible and more affordable for people who might otherwise have given up, especially given the current economic climate.”

Viewforth offers 72 new two, three and four bedroom homes for sale and 15 affordable homes are currently under construction for Kingdom Housing Association. The development enjoys the most incredible views towards the Firth of Forth and is a short walk from Ravenscraig Park and the historic Dysart Harbour.

The show home also has sustainable living at its heart and it aims to show prospective buyers that living in a new home can equally balance old and new.   Heritage paints along with upcycled furniture and new pieces commissioned from Fife-based makers and crafters create a unique sense of home throughout.
