Whiteburn are excited that our new build home proposals for Allanbank received unanimous support from Councillors and was granted planning consent at Committee on 5 June 2023. This is a significant milestone for our development of new build homes in the historic market town of Lauder.

We are moving forward with all our technical consents and aim to commence works early 2024, first homes will be released for sale in Spring 2024. Our first phase will include a mix of 3 and 4 bedroom homes. Those who pre register interest with will be the first contacted for an opportunity to reserve a home at Allanbank.

Allanbank will provide 110 new build homes in Lauder, 83 will be private for sale and 27 will be affordable to rent, delivered with Scottish Borders Housing Association.

Allanbank is located on the edge of the town and will be accessed from the Stow Road. The site has a wonderful panoramic outlook across the valley, whilst having a sheltered walled woodland boundary. It is within walking distance of Lauder Primary School, the town centre and local services. New home owners will be able to take advantage of shopping locally in Lauder with the Co-op, Post Office, Pharmacy, The Spotty Dog delicatessen, Firebrick Bakery, Purple Plum for local produce, Weigh Greener and Shaws Fine Meats ( a favourite of ours from working in Innerleithen!)

Our design concept for Allanbank is to create a development with a mix of private and affordable new build homes with a ‘tenure blind’ palette of external materials which are sympathetic but with contemporary, contextual references to Lauder.

The development will have shared surface streets, creating natural traffic calmed areas by the careful positioning of buildings and landscape features. The layout creates ‘spaces between places’ for people to live in pocket neighbourhoods of squares, lanes and avenues.

The private for sale homes will provide a mix of three and four bedroom homes. We are proposing to build homes from our existing portfolio – the 3 bed Dow and Sinclair, the 4 bed Oliphant and Brodie, we have also designed three new homes for Allanbank, including homes with ground floor bedrooms.

We are working with Scottish Borders Housing Association on the delivery of affordable homes to rent.

At Whiteburn we strive to create places people love to live. Our aspiration for Allanbank is to create a natural extension to Lauder, delivering a new nighbourhood of homes which will appeal to local people or those who want to take advantage of the fantastic quality of life in the Scottish Borders.
