We renovated and rejuvenated the site of the B-listed Victorian school into an award-winning development of 45 homes. Creating a new landmark on this prominent west end Dundee site, we sold almost 75% of homes off plan.

“This is an exemplar development that knows its market well and rewards them with a building generous in both space and specification.”  The Saltire Society

Parkview also received a Commendation for Multiple Dwelling at The Saltire Society’s Housing Design Awards 2018.

Regenerating a characterful 19th Century landmark

The Parkview project was a rare opportunity to acquire a magnificent and well-known building in the sought after west end of Dundee. The large grounds offer a park-like setting and while the exuberant Scots Jacobean former industrial school takes centre stage in terms of architecture, the elevated position that the homes have earns them stunning panoramic views across the River Tay.

The vision

Working with multi-award-winning architects Page \ Park, the vision was to carefully restore and convert the 19th Century hero building… and take cues from that building to generate new and equally bold and impressive homes via the demolition of the tired 1970s accommodation block.

Being faithful to the intention of the original building and grounds – but boldly reworking it around the 21st Century people who would inhabit it; there are landscaped gardens with a park-like theme, communal courtyards, with a canopy uniting the past and present of the former school building and radical, new, linear buildings inspired by the towers and scale of the historic school. And all designed with a consideration for context and an eye for fusing materials such as local stone, timber and contemporary zinc.
